Here comes "The Intense Cabin!" (and more!)

Well, I've got two brand new videos for all (one) of you today. I'll start with "Imaginary Me." This one's. . . okay. It's not bad. It's not great, but Ricardo is amazing in it. He's genius, by far the best part of the video, and really the only reason it's worth watching. No other introduction really, except maybe this tagline: "Have you ever wanted to be someone else?" Oh and you get to see me shirtless, so that's always nice (right? No? Come on.)

The next video is "The Intense Cabin!" I love this one, and though sometimes I don't like it as much as I do other times (it differs on the day/time I watch it), at worst I really like it and think not only did we do a really good job on it, but it's pretty well done. At best, like when Abdul and I were doing final editing at my house, it's absolutely amazing, and we couldn't control ourselves from not jacking off to it. So, yeah, I'm pretty proud of this one and like it a lot (though the First Friday Shorts crowd certainly didn't feel the same....). I hope that didn't set your expectations too high, but I think it's really good *cowers*. So, here's that:

And finally, I just wanted to post this because it looks fucking amazing and makes my mind feel like it's about to explode (in a OHMYGODDDDDTHISISSOCOOL way).

Oh my God, July 16th can't come soon enough. Movie of the summer? (Sorry Toy Story 3).

So now your turn, which video of mine did you like better? What'd you think of the Inception trailer? Which do you think will be better: Toy Story 3 or Inception? Discuss. Also, feel free to talk about anything else/expand on those thoughts.

  1. Okeedokers. So. The first one gets the "mildly amusing" award, to use Mr. Bindschadler's favorite phrase. I thought it was a fun short. The second one... well, I'm not a big fan of killer babies. Otherwise, though, it was really well done. Ricardo could be a professional teeth-bearing head banger. The sound effects were great on that, too. As for Inception, I hadn't even heard of it until now. I suppose that is the point of blogging :) It looks WAY better than Toy Story 3. The trailer definitely got me interested. I just happen to be a wimp when it comes to violence in movies, truth be told. I don't really want to have a mental breakdown in the theatre (that actually wouldn't happen, but I think you get the point). Or, I will watch it at home where looking completely disturbed is not embarrassing. Haha. I'm not sure if I will be able to wait that long, though. So I suppose I will have to toughen up until then, I mean seeing such a movie in theatre is a ZILLION times better than at home. The whole idea of the movie is kind of creepy, I have got to say. As I said before - I'm a total wimp. But Inception definitely sounds worth it.

  2. Yeah, I would say that 'mildly amusing' is the perfect phrase for the first one. Maybe a laugh or two, but nothing special. We had worked hard on it, but even editing couldn't fix a weak premise.

I happen to really like 'The Intense Cabin.' I can't help it. Everything from the color, the shots, angles, mood, music, sound effects. I think we did a really good job on it and I think it just might be my favorite movie I've made (thus far). And yes, I love when Ricardo has his sunglasses on and is bobbing his head, with his teeth showing. He looks like such a douche. If you watch me at 0:12 you can see I just can't help myself from laughing. Even though Abdul got more into it, I think Ricardo looks funnier just by looking into the camera with only his upper teeth showing. Though there was one take where Abdul kept popping his neck, over and over again. It was hilarious. Gah, I gotta put that on here. That whole scene was so much fun to shoot, because we had gone in the car to shoot the next shot of them talking, but when we got in the car we turned the stereo on and Muse just came on blasting and we couldn't help but start rocking out to it. So we thought it would be funny to put it in the movie.

And finally, you hate violence in movies! Oh my god, how can you live? Like half of my favorite movies are full of violence. I can't even imagine not being able to watch them. You're such a girl :( Did you see The Dark Knight? (and if so, in theaters?) I didn't think it looked that violent. I mean, I'm sure that like The Dark Knight, there's no blood (which is usually what gets people like you), just explosions and fighting. Though I do agree that seeing movies in theaters is so much better than watching it at home. It's weird when I hear people (usually older people) that really like movies, but only see them like on matinees during the week, because they don't like people talking in the theater and such. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I rarely find that I'm distracted by people in a theater, and I go to the movies a lot, though it has happened on occasions and it was annoying. But for the most part, seeing movies in theaters is a communal experience - you laugh when the other people laugh - plus with a movie like this, it's so much better when it's on the big screen and well, really big. But yeah, that trailer was suuuuuuuuuuuuuper awesome (and Marion Cotillard!) Unfortunately, I'm gonna be at camp when it first comes out though. And hey, give Toy Story 3 some love. I mean, I agree Inception looks way better, but Toy Story is a classic, though I'm not as thrilled by the trailer as I thought I'd be, it's Pixar, so I'm sure it's amazing.

  3. I loved The Dark Knight. Ariana and I watched it... what... three times together? We have Dark Knight Parties. And yes, I also saw it in theaters. I LOVE THAT MOVIE. I can take violence to a certain extent, but when it's unnecessary exploding just because it's "cool" or whatever, then I just get all annoyed. I've never really been a Toy Story lover, but I have seen the first two multiple times. They just don't give me the whole WHOA feeling like some other Pixars. Sorry about being such a girl (ouch). Maybe I should get a sex change.

    NOT.

Did you enjoy the movie The Constant Gardener (if you have seen it, that is)? I'm in the middle of watching it right now. Taking a break to eat some chocolate and comment on this. I am such a girl. I don't even really like girls all that much, but we've gone over that before. Okay, back to the movie. Farewell for now.

  4. Good girl. The Dark Knight is amazing. I love it. And why wasn't I invited to these Dark Knight parties (when I have so many Batman t-shirts)? And I don't like unnecessary explosions that are just in there because they're cool either (*coughTRANSFORMERScough*). I mean, as long as the violence relates to the story, I'm good (in fact, the more graphic and gorier, the better - hey I am a guy (though I actually would say, as a filmmaker, that if it takes you out of the story that's bad, but otherwise I do enjoy it and it makes me turn away too, but, like horror movies, that's part of the fun)).

Toy Story is probably my second favorite Pixar film (after Wall-E, duh) and holds a very special place in my heart. Not only is it probably like the first movie I saw (though I have trouble remembering - Toy Story 2 is the earliest memory I have of seeing a movie in the theater), but I grew up with it. I remember having my Woody and Buzz Lightyear toys, so Toy Story 3 is gonna be pretty nostalgic, for me (as I suspect for many kids our age). And no, please don't get a sex change. It's okay that you're a girl. :) Us guys like you girls. If the world was all guys I'd be pretty devastated (and sick of dick jokes). Though the fact that you don't like girls that much does explain why you like hanging out with Ariana. BOOM ROASTED. It'd be better if she was here though, because now I just feel mean...

I haven't seen The Constant Gardener, though I have heard of it. Have you read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I just started it.

  5. Haha. Blogging is so awesome, I can't get over it.

Can you imagine not being able to say, "that's what she said"? What a devastating thought...

Ariana and I want to have another Dark Knight party, so we shall invite you this time, don't fret. By "party" I meant her and I, a bowl of goldfish, a bowl of popcorn, and the movie. So I hope you didn't feel TOO left out. Are you here the first part of summer?

Wall-E was AMAZING. It was the first and last movie I ever saw with just Laura and I. *Chuckles*. I guess the whole being a girl thing takes part in not growing up with Woody and Buzz toys. That sounds incredibly dirty.

Boom roasted is my favorite phrase that you use on a regular basis, just so you know.

My dad just read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and owns the sequel or whatever it is, as well. He loved it. I am interested in reading it, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I heard it got sort of graphic, but hey, what's a good book without some discomfort?

Speaking of movies and horror and random other stuff, have you seen Rocky Horror at The Loft? I'm sure you have. Just wondering :)

  6. Yeah, I'm here pretty much all of June except for June 9th to the 15th (and then I'm gone in July). What about you? What are you doing over the summer?

Yes, Wall-E, was indeed amazing. It's probably in my top 10 films of all time. I love it to pieces, although I gotta say seeing it with Laura would probably ruin the magical experience.

Do I really use Boom Roasted on a regular basis? I guess I do. Wow. What other regular phrases do I have?

And actually no, I have not seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Loft. I KNOW! I've really wanted to, but surprisingly I haven't. I'm thinking it might be fun to go on my 17th birthday though (when I wouldn't have to go with my folks).

  7. This summer I'm doing the musical at the high school (which I have done every summer since 6th grade). I love musical theatre :). That basically takes up all of June. Then in July I'm going to England (London, Wales, etc.). I don't know any other regular phrases you use... but I'll point them out next time I notice if you'd like. And that sounds like a fabulous idea for your 17th birthday. Gooood stuff.

  8. The musical is Fame by the way. And yeah, I guess this is where I tell you you really should come to the shows. It's going to be awesomeawesomeawesomeawesome.

  9. Oh that sounds fun. I saw the Oliver summer play a couple years back and thought it was actually better than the professional one, so that's pretty cool (though I wasn't thrilled with the plays they've had over the course of this school year, but the two I saw I was also working while watching them, so that might've played a part (pun intended!)). But yeah I'll see it. Just give me dates, when you know. And have fun in England. I've been there once and it was pretty rad. And please don't point out any regular phrases I use. Thanks.

  10. Okay - just to prove that I actually do drop in on other peoples' sites once in awhile. I was entertained by both your movies. The first one just made me laugh (not that that's any great accomplishment - but I liked it). The second also kind of made me laugh - especially your death scene. And of course, the ending - kind of Twilight Zonish.

  11. OH MY GOD!!!!! MR. B.!!!!! YOU ACTUALLY LOOK AT OUR BLOGS!!!!! YAY, HIP HIP HOORAY! LOOK ALISON, IT'S MR. B.!

Mr. B., make sure not to read Alison's ridiculous post on her blog though (now that'll probably just tempt you to go read it now, if you hadn't already).

And yes, I'm sure you recognized some familiar faces in that first video. Four others, I'm pretty sure.

And yes, everyone loves my death scene - I wonder what that says....
And who knows, maybe I was influenced by all those Twilight Zone episodes we watched in your class last year (though that baby was also a character in one of Abdul and Ricardo's other movies, so it actually really relates to that, but even people who haven't seen it, still think it's funny... because it's a killer baby).

  12. Hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahaa. Hi there Mr. Bindschadler! It's been a while. I was thinking of visiting before the school year comes to a close (Marc, feel free to join me). Last time we talked was your birthday, now it's mine. Half way to thirty. I'M GETTING OLD. I know, you are just thinking to yourself about how glad you are that Marc and I no longer stalk you. Little do you know... Mwahaha.

  13. **hyperventilates** HI THERE MR. BINDSCHADLER! It's been a while. I was thinking of coming to visit OGMS sometime before the end of the school year. Marc, feel free to join me if you haven't been in a while. I haven't really figured out the details yet, anyway. Also- Dark Night party. It's going to be at night. And we shall watch The Dark Knight. It will be my (superawesomeamazinglyfantastical) birthday party replacement. The last time I talked to you, Mr. B, it was YOUR birthday. And now I'm half way to 30. I'M SO OLD. GAHHHHH. Hehe... I know, I know. You're just sitting there rolling your eyes about their sockets, shaking your head in an inconspicuous sort of fashion, allowing yourself to crack a sideways smile, thinking to yourself about how glad you are that Marc and I no longer stalk you. Little do you know... mwahahaha.

  14. Why did you essentially write the same comment twice? And good idea on having the Dark Knight party at 'Knight' (even though I assumed it would be anyways). I don't know when/if I can see Mr. B., though I've already seen him a couple times this year.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh. The first one never showed up... until now. You may go ahead and delete it. I thought because I never had to type in that little "I'm not a computerized hacker" code, that it just lost the comment somehow. Apparently not.
